As any internet marketer would know, copywriting is the corner stone of your conversions. You may have an awesome product, but without the right copywriting, it will not sell.
But do not lose hope. Copywriting is a skill that you can master. It just takes time, practice, test and measurement. When you hit on the right combination of words, you will see it in your sales results.
Copywriting for short advertisement, like PPC or micro blogging requires a different approach than copywriting for a squeeze page or email marketing. With short copywriting you need to get a grabber – a great first line to get the attention, a description, briefly of the product, and then a call to action. All of this including your keyword – and in the case of twitter, also your link all within 140 characters!
How is it possible? It takes practice and you need to put some thought into it.
So what about squeeze pages and email marketing? Here you have more room to expand on your product and more of an opportunity to convince readers to purchase. You can establish the problem, and then provide your product as the solution, while also identifying the value-adding aspects of your product.
So what is the next step in copywriting?
In 2010, people are exposed to a lot of advertising – through the older forms of tv, radio and newspaper, but also heavily online. How can you stand out from the rest?
You simply need to think laterally. Think outside the box. You need to do away with all over-used and tired buzz words. No catch phrases. They all seem cheesy. Be original and unique.
Also, take the opportunity of selling at every point. An example of this is with your online sales. If someone buys a product from you, take the opportunity to point out what other products they may be interested in that are related to the product that they purchased.
Or, you can offer each person that purchases a product with you, a discount on a different product next time they buy with you. You will be opening them up to more of your product line and ensuring they come back to you again.
Copywriting is essential for your online success. Put some time and effort into the words that you are using to make a sale – and you will reap the rewards!
