Domain Name Shopping

August 21st, 2010 No comments

One of the most exciting things for an Internet Marketer is Domain Name Shopping. The excitement of having a new domain, all to yourself is awesome. But what are the things that you need to consider when choosing a domain name?

Domain Name

Where is the domain to be located?
This means, where is the world are you? This directly related to your domain. If your business is located in
Australia, for example, then you would look at getting a .com.au domain. If your business is global, then a .com or .net would be best.

The specific reason for this is that Google looks at searches and domains globally and locally for relevancy. If you have a .com website such as www.makeup.com, and a competitor has the website www.makeup.com.au (and both sites were equal in their SEO efforts), and a searcher in Australia searches for makeup, Google will present the .com.au address as it is related to the location. It is most relevant to the person in Australia.

This means it is very important to consider your business and your location before you buy your domain.

Does .com rule?
When looking at buying a domain name , always try and get the .com (or .com.au) before the .net. This is because .com has been around for longer than .net. People think “.com” more easily than “.net”. If both .com and .net are available, it is worth getting both and redirecting the .net to the .com. But remember in every circumstance, SEO efforts will see the domain ranked best.

Keyword Research
When buying a domain, it’s essential to make sure that the domain is viable. Make sure there is a relevant and popular keyword that is related to your business, in the domain name. The shorter the keyword, the better. Thorough research will pay off with a catchy and memorable domain for your business.

Take the time to peruse and purchase domains – doing your research can mean profitable domain names for you!

Adsense – Advertising that pays you!

August 6th, 2010 No comments

Adsense is advertising provided by Google. Basically, Google puts ads on your blog or website. Simple!

What are the specifics of Adsense? When you have a blog or website, you can sign up to Adsense through your gmail account and then register for advertising.
What does this mean? It means that you are allowing Google to place advertising on your website – which you profit from.

Each time someone clicks through on a Google ad appearing on your website/blog, you earn!
So this also leads to the point – traffic generation – it’s very important to have regular and fresh traffic to your website and blog, not only for your great content, but also to click on your links.

Adsense

The amount that you earn varies. You can earn from 40c per click through to $30 per click. It all depends upon the ads that are appearing on your website.

For ads for fishing tackle boxes or craft supplies you might be earning around the 40c mark. For credit cards and law firms you might be earning $30+.

However, the Adsense ads are targeted by two factors: By the keywords on the page and by site selection.

So if your website or blog is about fishing, Google will not place ads for banks and law firms on you site. And vice-versa. Google controls what ads appear where. And it is a helpful thing too. You need to have subject specific advertising on websites or you will not have people clicking through. The ads will not be of interest to them, and they will therefore not click on them. Even worse, inappropriate ads may turn readers and visitors off as they may see the website as miss-directed.

Adsense is one of the leading ways to create an income from your blog or website. Try out Adsense and find out!

Keyword Research

June 30th, 2010 No comments

When creating effective SEO, keyword research is paramount.

Keyword Research

When starting your website, you know what area you are focussing on. However there are many different ways of describing this area through keywords. What you need to do is find the right keyword that describes your business as well as ranking well. However you need to choose a keyword that is a popular search term – but not too popular that you will not have a chance to rank on this. You need to find a happy medium in your keyword research.
This along with appropriate website design, traffic tools and marketing will ensure a good and successful website.

Researching Keywords
When researching keywords, its crucial that you get the right one for your business. It’s easy to lose focus in your research as you move off on a tangent. Stay close to your business topic. Check out the websites of your competitors and see what keywords they are focussing on. You want to be different and unique, however at the same time available and searchable online.
During keyword research – remember these important rules:

  • Short tail keywords (i.e. one word) will generally be more competitive than long tail keywords.
  • Try to steer clear of overly long keywords – these are unlikely to be searched on a regular basis, and you should see this through your keyword research figures.
  • Try to use everyday language rather than scientific or overly intelectual words.

Keyword Insertion
When completing SEO remember the following things:

  • Include the keyword in the headings
  • Include the keyword in titles
  • The keyword should appear in the first paragraph
  • The keyword should appear in the URL
  • Be bolded and italicized once each in the text

A final word on keywords – less is more. Do not get carried away and place your keyword in your text too many times. Enough times to SEO adequately is enough!

Using Internet Marketing To Promote Trade Shows

April 11th, 2010 1 comment

The Internet is a very powerful tool when it comes to spreading the word to a large audience.
Integrating internet marketing strategies into promotional events can prove very fruitful. Trade shows are used by every business to provide massive and targeted exposure to its products and services. But when the trade shows are promoted through web marketing techniques, you not only increase the exposure but add a lot of momentum to the overall efforts.
Let’s have a look at some of the ways in which you can use internet marketing for before, during and after the event promotions:

Trade Shows

•    You can create a section on your website exclusively to inform your visitors about the upcoming event and your   participation in it.
•    You can promote your website and your trade show web page through different print ads and banners.
•    Use different internet marketing methods to draw traffic to your website. Your site should be optimized to be ranked higher by the search engines. The visitors should be able to find you easily.
•    You can increase the excitement by launching some contest related to your trade show.  You can even make arrangements for providing follow-up information to the visitors who cannot attend the show but are interested in the event.
•    When the show is on, you can develop your lead database by asking the visitors at your booth for their email addresses and the kind of information they are interested in that they can receive from you.
•    Updating your website during the trade show about all the latest developments, upcoming activities, speaker summaries and other conference details can strengthen your position as an important resource of the industry.
•    Once the show is over, you can add videos of product demonstrations, insightful speeches and interviews with current customers to put your sales message across in a very effective way.

Your target audience will return only when they find something useful on your website. Provide substantial information, ideas and tips and make them want more.

Trade shows are just one way you can increase your exposure in the industry, make valuable contact with potential customers, join with others in your industry and even make a few sales!

Strategic Internet Marketing

March 14th, 2010 1 comment

Internet marketing, keeping in view modern trends, is probably the biggest blessing to businesses in current times. Using the internet you can reach a much wider target audience, and communicate your message to them much more quickly, efficiently and easily than if you use conventional media. Strategic internet marketing can dramatically increase your sales, lower your costs, and give you a much better ROI (Return on investment) than conventional marketing techniques can, particularly if you are a small business owner. Here are some of the ways that you can develop a strong internet marketing campaign.

Strategic Internet Marketing Plan:
1.    Create a Website:
For any business hoping to use strategic internet marketing techniques, this is probably the first and most crucial requirement. Without this, you cannot use effective email marketing or any other internet marketing technique. Here are the reasons why:

  • First and foremost, people expect you to have a website. They need to be able to quickly and easily find out all about you on the web, without actually having to walk through your doors.
  • Second, if you have a website, you will be able to filter through potential buyers by asking them to leave their email ID’s if they are interested in learning more about you. (This is called an opt-in form). Thus you can generate high quality leads for email marketing.
  • Third, you can create a blog with your website and create an online presence that will help familiarize your buyers with your business. A regularly updated blog can keep your site visitors coming back and this is excellent promotion for your business.

2.    Use Email Marketing:
This is probably one of the most effective tools internet marketing brings you. Using an opt-in form placed on your website or blog, you can generate high quality mailing lists for email marketing. Use simply yet elegantly designed emails, keep the tone polite and calm, avoid exclamatory and hyperbolic messages and be sure to check up on email delivery, open rates, click rates and other stats periodically. Here are the advantages of email marketing:

  • Reach a wide segment of your target audience in one click
  • Communicate all promotional and limited-time offers in time to all potential buyers
  • Email marketing software are available that can help you efficiently manage your contacts, design emails, and keep track of what happens to the email once it reaches the recipient’s inbox.

3.    Participate in Affiliate Networks:
An affiliate network is a group of websites and marketers – the marketers (businesses like yours) publish their advertisements on the websites, which are usually those sites whose visitors are likely to be part of your target market. Here are the benefits:

  • Attract targeted traffic (people likely to be interested in your products) to your website by placing links to your site on related websites.
  • Increase your search engine ranking because lots of places on the web are linking to your site. More links to your site make you rank higher with search engines, and hence when users search for services or products that you offer, your site shows up among the top few results.

Strategic internet marketing is the way forward, and you will be (or are being) left behind without utilising fully within for your business.

So whilst I can promise you we’ll have a lot of fun, and we do hope you getmotivated by the huge amount of information we cram in, I want to offer you my ‘No-Hype-No-Hug guarantee’… and here it is.

“I personally won’t make anyone stand on their chair and cheer, clap, dance, hoot or holler… and I definitely won’t make you hug anyone! If I do, I promise to sing the Australian National Anthem unaccompanied on stage, by myself… and let me tell you, there’s little chance of that happening!

My only condition is this; please don’t book if you’re not serious about taking action with what you learn. And please don’t waste our time by booking and then not showing up. You’ll be robbing someone of their future if you do. Millions of Australians desperately need this information right now, more than ever, and each venue only holds a maximum of 295 people.
