Adsense uncovered

March 1st, 2011 No comments

What is Adsense? Adsense is a creation of ads supplied by google for placement on your site. It is also classified as a content network campaign.

Adsense is common for raising revenue amongst bloggers. Can you remember looking at a website and seeing identical looking ads down the side of the site?

What is Adsense

Alot of the internet public has heard of advertising using google. In this case we are  marketing via google where our adverts are placed only on the appropriate search results pages.

Adsense offers the service to website owners, for placing adverts from Goggle onto their website and they will then share in a part of the revenue when someone actually clicks through on the advert.

The adsense ads are targeted by two factors: By the keywords on the page and by site selection.

For example, if i am bidding on a term the content network will then pull that ad through and display it on the page where the term appears, (Matching the keywords to terms and words on that particular web page, as opposed to search results)

Wikipedia definition

AdSense is an ad serving application run by Google Inc. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image, and video advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis. Google beta tested a cost-per-action service, but discontinued it in October 2008 in favor of a DoubleClick offering (also owned by Google). In Q1 2010, Google earned US$2.04 billion ($8.16 billion annualized), or 30% of total revenue, through AdSense.

Forum Posting – Making Useful Contributions

January 25th, 2011 No comments

Forum posting is one of the most traditional traffic generation techniques. It’s a technique that is wide spread. There are many different ways that people market in forums – there are some do’s and don’ts.

forum posting

There are hundreds of members of each forum, and many threads. There are hundreds of people reading these threads, so you need to make sure that your submission is worthwhile.

Mostly, a post will start off with a reasonable question, or a useful comment, such as “How do I get more traffic to my website” or “What’s better for traffic generation paid or free techniques?”.

You will get a few useful comments on this. People who have taken the time to read the question, think of an answer, and then make their addition.

However there are many posts after that that simply say “I agree with you avatar467″ and then add the link to their website.

The likelihood that anyone is going to find that post useful and then click through to their website is remote.

When forum posting, you need to give something back. It is not simply one way. You have to give something to get traffic in return. Give your knowledge, give your knowledgeable opinion, give something.

When in a forum, you are among your peers. Take the opportunity to show your expertise and enjoyment in the topic area – Remember with your forum posting –  you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.

Why Is Internet Marketing So Popular?

December 26th, 2010 No comments

A perfect marketing mix for businesses today definitely includes internet marketing. More and more companies are committing themselves to this most effective form of advertising as it is the new face of marketing.
Freedom, flexibility, adaptability, measurability and cost effectiveness are just few of the benefits to businesses. And customers love it because it eases the process of comparing and searching for different products, while orders can be placed and received while sitting at home.

The very first reason for the popularity of internet marketing is its wider reach. The products or services you promote using this mode are accessible to all those who use the internet and there are millions of them. Just a single advertisement can get you thousands of qualifying leads. You can get in touch with many people in one go.

internet marketing

Another reason is the ease and flexibility of internet marketing is the ability to do it from the comfort of home. Many Mums and people who cannot leave their home due to certain circumstances can easily get into home based internet marketing where they get to set their own work timings, hours of work and schedules. The temptation of being your own boss is hard to resist.

Affordability is another very important aspect responsible for the fast growth of this industry. Putting up an advertisement on a billboard on the highway is far more costly than a large banner ad on a webpage and the visibility is much higher in the latter. The results are fast because people just have to click a link and they can find out about you and your products or services immediately. The internet ads are placed in relevance to the sites being visited. Take the case of a person visiting a camera website; displaying ads related to camera accessories, memory sticks, camera bags are sure to increase the interest level. And chances are that the person will visit these sites with genuine action to buy.

Internet marketing is pertinent to both sellers and customers. And there is still huge amount of potential lying untapped. It is matter of learning and monetary investment, so give it some time, learn the skills and use it to grow your business by leaps and bounds.

Why Do You Keyword Research?

November 20th, 2010 2 comments

The most critical part of search engine optimization efforts is keyword research. Without performing this research first, all the efforts in SEO are completely wasted because you cannot reach your target audience. Keyword research is basically finding out which words are used by people on search engines to find certain topics. Using those words on your site or blog help the search engines locate and display your content in the results.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is actually a means to reach your audience. Here are the reasons as to why you should research your keywords:

  • As opposed to working on your instincts and gut feel, finding right keywords helps you to base your decisions on facts and include those terms only that are actually being used by internet users. You can use keyword research tools to help you with that.
  • Although it does take time initially, this process saves you a lot of time in the long run by not having to repeat modifications and use vague attempts to increase traffic.
  • Keyword research not only optimizes the website, it also makes you very familiar with your targeted market including the niche and the audience so your approach becomes far more rounded.
  • This process also provides you information on the amount of traffic a particular keyword generates as well as its competitive estimate relative to others. As a result, you can focus your time and money on only those keywords that are bound to bring in traffic.
  • You can also find out the keywords that bring in decent traffic but have a low level of competition. They can be used well in your campaign and can prove very beneficial.
  • Using the right keywords also makes your site more focused and the visitors are not misled.

With the right keyword research, you have every chance of attaining a superb search engine ranking and focusing on the best terms of the business. So never skip the research and bring in lots of qualified traffic.

Aged Domains – Choosing the right one for you

October 25th, 2010 1 comment

Choosing the right aged domain is a business decision.

It is common knowledge that aged domains can be more profitable, better exposed and better ranking than new domains. A short URL, containing relevant and high ranking keywords, that has been on the net for a few years is an excellent business tool and addition to your marketing arsenal.
Having said that, relying only on your domain age will not solve all of your marketing issues – you will need to pursue aggressive daily marketing tactics to get to – and stay – number one.

Aged Domains

Keywords – It’s essential that when you are looking for aged domains for your business that you choose an appropriate keyword. The keyword needs to be relevant to your business and high ranking. Make sure you complete your keyword research so that you choose the right aged domain.

URL Length – It’s becoming increasingly more  common for businesses to use long domain names. This is more counterproductive than you think. Not only is a long keyword in your URL difficult to remember, it is difficult to SEO consistently within your website. Short keyword, or short URL aged domains are the only way to go when looking to purchase an aged domain.

Legal – As more and more people are registering domain names, when looking for an aged domain name for your business, you need to make sure that you have the legal rights to use this domain name. This means that you are not using someone else’s registered trademark. Do your research and make sure the aged domain that you are purchasing is legally ok.

Developing your Domain – Once you have chosen the aged domain you wish to purchase, decide what you are going to do with it. An aged domain is an investment, so make sure you are using it to it’s full potential. Would it do better as a shopfront domain as opposed to a blog? Would it be better as a forum over a shop front? Planning and thinking through your purchase will ensure that you can get the most out of your aged domains.

Buying an aged domain is a business investment. Just as you would research, plan and organise for a business investment of property, stocks/shares or equipment, you must plan for your aged domain investment.

Domain Name Registrations – What’s New?

September 14th, 2010 No comments

Domain extensions are increasing

domain name registrations

As the activity on the Internet increases throughout 2010, there are more and more people requiring domain names. As more domain name registrations are requested, new domain extentions had to be created to keep up with the demand.

There are now over 21 domain extensions available. These include the ever popular .com, .net and .org, but also through to .biz, .tv and even .aero.

More than 70% of domains are registered as .com. This extension is the oldest on the web and also the most memorable, which is the main reason why it is the extension of choice. But what about the other extensions?
Let’s take a look at them now:

.org – this extension traditionally was reserved for organisations, in particular non-profit organisations or community organizations. Domains with this extension were not businesses. This rule has been relaxed somewhat in 2010, and a wider range of websites have adopted this extension.

.net – this extension is the alternative to .com. When you want to register your domain name, and .com is taken, .net is usually the fallback choice. It is still a useful and popular extension.

.asia – this is just one extension of many geographical extensions. These are for domains centered around a particular geographic area and can be extremely useful when targeting your business to a particular geographic area.

Domain name registrations should be entered into seriously. You are buying online real estate for your business. It’s essential to have the right real estate for your business.
You should also look into buying several different domain extensions when registering your domain name.
For example, if you have a business name Abc123, and you need domain name registrations for this business, you might look at buying: www.abc123.com. But you might also purchase www.abc123.net, www.abc123.org, www.abc123.biz and so on.
This will eliminate copy cat websites. You can direct all the other domain name registrations (.org, .net) to your .com registration – which would increase your traffic as well!

Registering your desired domain name should be high on your priority list – to ensure that you get the domain name that you want for your business.

Domain Name Shopping

August 21st, 2010 No comments

One of the most exciting things for an Internet Marketer is Domain Name Shopping. The excitement of having a new domain, all to yourself is awesome. But what are the things that you need to consider when choosing a domain name?

Domain Name

Where is the domain to be located?
This means, where is the world are you? This directly related to your domain. If your business is located in
Australia, for example, then you would look at getting a .com.au domain. If your business is global, then a .com or .net would be best.

The specific reason for this is that Google looks at searches and domains globally and locally for relevancy. If you have a .com website such as www.makeup.com, and a competitor has the website www.makeup.com.au (and both sites were equal in their SEO efforts), and a searcher in Australia searches for makeup, Google will present the .com.au address as it is related to the location. It is most relevant to the person in Australia.

This means it is very important to consider your business and your location before you buy your domain.

Does .com rule?
When looking at buying a domain name , always try and get the .com (or .com.au) before the .net. This is because .com has been around for longer than .net. People think “.com” more easily than “.net”. If both .com and .net are available, it is worth getting both and redirecting the .net to the .com. But remember in every circumstance, SEO efforts will see the domain ranked best.

Keyword Research
When buying a domain, it’s essential to make sure that the domain is viable. Make sure there is a relevant and popular keyword that is related to your business, in the domain name. The shorter the keyword, the better. Thorough research will pay off with a catchy and memorable domain for your business.

Take the time to peruse and purchase domains – doing your research can mean profitable domain names for you!

Adsense – Advertising that pays you!

August 6th, 2010 No comments

Adsense is advertising provided by Google. Basically, Google puts ads on your blog or website. Simple!

What are the specifics of Adsense? When you have a blog or website, you can sign up to Adsense through your gmail account and then register for advertising.
What does this mean? It means that you are allowing Google to place advertising on your website – which you profit from.

Each time someone clicks through on a Google ad appearing on your website/blog, you earn!
So this also leads to the point – traffic generation – it’s very important to have regular and fresh traffic to your website and blog, not only for your great content, but also to click on your links.

Adsense

The amount that you earn varies. You can earn from 40c per click through to $30 per click. It all depends upon the ads that are appearing on your website.

For ads for fishing tackle boxes or craft supplies you might be earning around the 40c mark. For credit cards and law firms you might be earning $30+.

However, the Adsense ads are targeted by two factors: By the keywords on the page and by site selection.

So if your website or blog is about fishing, Google will not place ads for banks and law firms on you site. And vice-versa. Google controls what ads appear where. And it is a helpful thing too. You need to have subject specific advertising on websites or you will not have people clicking through. The ads will not be of interest to them, and they will therefore not click on them. Even worse, inappropriate ads may turn readers and visitors off as they may see the website as miss-directed.

Adsense is one of the leading ways to create an income from your blog or website. Try out Adsense and find out!
