Affiliate Resources: How Are They Advantageous

May 23rd, 2010 No comments

An online business’ success largely depends on the affiliate resources. These resources provide the necessary guidance and tools to promote the products and services in the best possible way. Every website offering affiliate programs has a section dedicated to assist affiliates. But unfortunately more than half of the marketers do not use this section and those who do actually make more profits.
A new affiliate program requires you to adopt a strategy for promotion. It can be article marketing, SEO strategies, PPC or many more such practices. The affiliate resources provide access to such tools that help marketers in creating a successful plan and implementing it right. Affiliate program managers create all the tools and help guides to assist affiliates. Some companies even go to the extent of holding online conferences that involve discussing major strategies and their proper implementation.

Affiliate Resources
Advantages

  • Affiliate resources help you in determining how to get started. There are different ways to approach a particular program and with the right resources, you get to choose the most appropriate one.
  • The company who has created the product knows it very well. They easily highlight the high points of the product and provide key information that lets you market the product better. It is always in your best interest to take those keynotes by making more sales and hence earning more profit.
  • The different types of tools that are offered are usually graphics, reports, banners, articles, ebooks, training programs, and statistics on the basis of keywords, special ads and sometimes even 24 hour support to resolve your queries. You can approach the company at any time and ask for help.
  • You can learn from the mistakes of other people because many experienced marketers share their experience and the kind of obstacles they faced in setting up their affiliate marketing business. This documentation can teach you what to do and what not to do.

Affiliate resources make life a lot easier for the affiliates. If you are already associated with an affiliate program and are not using resources, you must give it a thought as it can greatly influence you business’s earnings.

Clickbank: The Largest Marketplace

May 18th, 2010 1 comment

Affiliate marketing has been growing in leaps and bounds. Although this trend started only a decade ago, it has turned out to be a global phenomenon and the reasons for its success partially are the affiliate networks that have allowed people all over the world to connect and do business.
Clickbank is one of the largest digital marketplaces and a very well established name in its field.
The founders of the company had a vision for the future that prompted them to start this affiliate network in 1998 when the internet was just beginning to explode and expand. They decided to provide a common platform for people to buy and sell their digital commodities.

Clickbank

Statistics
More than 10,000 online businesses are affiliated with Clickbank. With about 20,000 orders daily on an average, this network is connecting thousands of sellers with millions of prospective buyers. They have more than 100,000 affiliates in their network. They reached the $1 million mark of daily sales around 2007 and since then it has been a routine.

Products
The products that are sold through this network are mostly ebooks and software. You can create your own digital products and sell them. Memberships and subscriptions can also be sold. Or you can also choose to promote other people’s products and earn a lot of commission.
Process
Affiliate marketers open up an account with the Clickbank affiliate network.  After signing up, they get access to the products and services of different vendors. These products are categorized into different types and fields. The marketers can choose the product they want to promote and get the code from Clickbank to place an ad related to that product on their blog, site, forum or any other place they want to. Whenever a visitor clicks that ad and buys the product, the marketer earns commission.
The commission and pricing of the product is worked upon by the vendor and the organization. By paying a nominal fee, the vendor can put his product up for sale in this digital marketplace.

Clickbank is loved by both vendors and marketers. As an intermediary between them, it takes into account the wishes of both parties and puts forward a fair deal. That’s why Clickbank is a pioneer in its field.

Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs: How to Make Them Work for You

April 8th, 2010 No comments

What are Pay-per-Click Affiliate Programs?

Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs

Pay Per Click Affiliate Programs

A pay-per-click affiliate program is an arrangement under which your advertisements are placed on a different website, and every time a visitor to that site clicks on your ad, you pay a certain, pre-arranged amount for it. It can be a great way of marketing your products, but also has certain drawbacks that should be kept in mind. Let us take a look at how it is done, tips to do it right, and the possible traps.

How to Join a Pay-per-Click Affiliate Program?

Here are the steps involved:
• Pick the pay-per-click affiliate program of your choice: There are many pay-per-click affiliate networks and programs operating currently, such as Google AdSense, FastClick, and ClixGalore. Google AdSense is a good choice because it is reliable and known, plus Google is the search engine of choice for a huge section of internet users.
• Write your advertisement: Make it brief and keyword rich. The more relevant your keywords to what you are selling, the better quality traffic you will see on your site.
• Bid for the placement of your ads: For search engines like Google, the higher you bid, the higher the placement of your ads in a user’s search results. The bid is what you will pay the affiliate every time a visitor clicks on your advertisement.

Pay-per-Click Affiliate Programs
– Tips for getting it Right:

• Don’t bid too low or too high:
Very high bids will get you spending out of proportion to your sales, so you get a low Return on Investment. Remember that every time someone clicks, you pay, sale or no sale, so make sure that your bidding price is not too high. Too low bidding can lead to your ads being placed where no one sees them
• Be truthful:
Avoid misleading statements in your ads just in the hope of attracting more traffic. Remember that your ad will link back to your site, where the visitor will see the true picture. If the ad told him something your site does not live up to, he won’t buy. So you paid, but didn’t make the sale, so it wasn’t worth it, was it?
• Avoid being vague:
Be very specific in your ads. Quote exact prices and exact details, to avoid getting visitors who are not really interested in your products. The objective of PPC is not traffic; it is sales, so make sure that your ads are good enough to persuade people to buy and yet filter out “just-looking” types.

What to Beware of in Pay-per-Click Affiliate Programs

Beware of click fraud. That’s when people or groups or automated programs click on your hundreds or thousands of times with no objective other than to make you pay. This can land you in deep financial trouble, so as soon as you suspect click fraud, when your bills suddenly run really high and your sales are at a standstill, contact the affiliate (the site where your ad is published). Otherwise, pay-per-click is far more trouble than it’s worth!

Affiliate Networks

March 27th, 2010 No comments

In the world of internet marketing, you will often hear affiliate marketing described as a “win-win situation”. This may well be the case, owing to the benefits gained by both the marketer and the hosting website. So where does a beginner start with affiliate marketing and affiliate networks?

What is an Affiliate Network?

Affiliate Networks

Affiliate Networks

Affiliate marketing refers to the idea of a company allowing another company to display their advertisements on their website – for instance, a food retailer publishing their ads on a restaurant’s website. An affiliate network acts as a go-between between companies that wish to advertise their products or services (these are called “merchants” in affiliate marketing terminology) and websites that are willing to display their ads (the “affiliates” or “publishers”). Essentially an affiliate network is a group with several publishers and merchants as its members, which allows publishers a high degree of convenience in promoting products that their audience is likely to be interested in, and allows merchants to easily promote their products and also track their popularity.

Examples of Affiliate Networks:

• Google AdSense: This is one of the most popular affiliate networks, allowing all publishers to display Google Ads relevant to their content. It is free to participate in and join, and allows the publishing website to earn as the ads are clicked by site visitors.
• Commission Junction: This is possibly one of the largest American affiliate networks, and the publishing website is paid by the merchant whenever the ad causes a sale – i.e. commission based payment.
• ClixGalore: This is an international affiliate network and operates in several different regions such as Australia, Japan and the UK. They offer various affiliate programs and the mode of payment is either pay per click or commission based, depending on the specific merchant and publisher.

Benefits of Affiliate Networks:

For the merchant, joining an affiliate network has the following benefits:
• New sales channels are opened, and in many networks you only pay if sales leads are actually generated.
• The hassle of handling the arrangement’s details is taken up by the network, and good networks still allow the publisher some control while handling the smaller details.

For the publisher, joining an affiliate network has the following benefits:
• The network will ensure that you get paid your due commission on any sale made because of your displaying the advertisement.
• It is a great way to supplement your income, and as long as you choose good quality products to promote, it will not harm your reputation in any way.

The Pro’s and Con’s for an Affiliate Marketer

December 19th, 2009 No comments

Affiliate marketing is a rapidly growing segment of the online marketing industry.  Often described as a “win-win” arrangement for both the publisher and the client, it is quite popular as a low-risk and generally profitable venture.

The Pros of affiliate marketing:
•    For the marketer, the most obvious advantage is the low capital cost. Unlike the client, who has to buy, store and manage inventory, the affiliate marketer simply has to focus on product promotion. Affiliate marketers of online retail giant Amazon, for instance, already have their own websites, and the cost involved in directing traffic to Amazon is significantly low compared to other businesses. Sites like Clickbank offer a lot of convenience for managing affiliate commission based staff.
•    One of the most lucrative aspects of the affiliate marketing industry for the affiliate marketer, is the minimal risk involved. In another business, critically low sales are the entrepreneur’s nightmare: changing or scrapping a product is a tiresome and risky business that can seriously harm the company.  The affiliate marketer, however, has the luxury of knowing that in case the product does not attract a large enough number of buyers, it is relatively easy to switch strategies, and, in the worst case, products. The maximum possible loss, therefore, is the cost of marketing the product.
The Cons of affiliate marketing:
Affiliate marketing is often overrated as an easy way to make money. For an astute marketer this may be the case, but in general it brings its own risks and disadvantages.
•    The main disadvantage is that affiliate marketing entails serious hard work. To direct enough traffic to the client’s sales page is a challenge under the currently predominant affiliate arrangement – the revenue sharing system. Since this arrangement requires that the potential customer actually buys the product, the marketer battles on two fronts: to make the advertisement appropriate to attract the target audience (the people most likely to buy the product), and to make it enticing enough that they actually make the purchase.
•    Furthermore, affiliate marketing can sometimes be a unreliable choice of career. The work may be intermittent and the pay often sporadic, it is also not a very secure means of earning: there have been instances of hackers receiving the pay instead of the actual marketer. Of course, this problem is dealt with by reputable companies, but restricting your clients to only those few companies will not give you a career boost!
Essentially, affiliate marketing can be viewed as a suitable choice of side-business, without making it your chief source of income, and the experience you gain as a publisher will be invaluable if you ever start your own business. A success story for affiliate marketing has been Nicci And Lee, and Sean Rasmussen, so there are many stories to be found if you ask around.

How To Find An Affiliate Product

September 27th, 2009 1 comment

There are literally thousands of affiliate programs you can join to find affiliate products you can sell on your blog or website. Let’s look at how to find an affiliate product that best suits your site.

You will never be short of affiliate products however one of the most important things is to remember to only promote products that you would generally buy yourself.

Believing in the product or service you are promoting make a HUGE difference in your conversions. It will be blindingly obvious in the way you write about a certain product or service whether you believe in it or not.

Ultimately, if you believe in your affiliate product, your customers will believe. Simple as that!

The other thing you need to consider when choosing an affiliate product or service is to look at the reward you get when you make a sale. If the product is $50 and you as the affiliate are only given a $2 commission for a sale, i would be asking why. On the other hand, if this product is the latest and greatest gadget that every kid in the ENTIRE world simply MUST have and you will probably sell a few hundred every day, then there is no time to ask ANY questions – sell sell sell!

Plainly put, look at how much effort is involved in selling the affiliate product verses how much reward you will receive.

So now we know WHAT to look for in an affiliate product, let’s now look at how to find an affiliate product.

As I said earlier, there are thousands of affiliate programs out there you could join and browse through looking for the perfect affiliate product or service. If you have the time to do this, then by all means go for it! However if you are a little time poor (and who isn’t) start with two of the best affiliate program sites:

Commision Monster

ClickBank

ClickBank has mostly digital product like e-books and covers a wide variety of topics where as Commision Monster has products and services for every topic you can think of.

You will need to set up an account to browse through these sites and sometimes they will ask for your URL before allowing you to join. If you don’t yet have a website or blog, you can set yourself up a squidoo lens which is fast and effective and will give you your own personal URL to use for this purpose.

The other way you can look for affiliate programs is simply do a search for other websites related to your niche that have their own product or service. Some will have affiliate programs promoted on their site, where as other may not. So if you do come across a product and you can’t see anywhere on their site about an affiliate program, contact them! They may just have one.

An example of this would be Business Academy Online’s Affiliate program. We are not on Commision Monster however have an army of affiliates promoting our Program Business Academy Online.

7 Benefits of Affiliate Marketing

August 28th, 2009 No comments

When you’re looking to make money on the internet,  Affiliate Marketing is one of the most popular ways to do it.  Most of the successful internet marketers around today started out with affiliate marketing, and are still doing it in some form.  Affiliate marketing is nothing like the MLM marketing of the past that has gotten such a bad rap.
Affiliate marketing works so well due to the win-win situation it poses for everyone. Lets have a look at what some of the benefits are for affiliate marketing if you are new to the internet.
People can earn good money through Affiliate Marketing and there are continually new companies starting affiliate programs because of the many benefits. Companies love affiliate programs because it’s a win-win situation for them… People help them to increase their brand awareness by promoting their products and they only have to pay for actual results.

Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing

1. It is free to get into. A lot of the time you don’t even need your own website (we will chat about traffic generation without a website in future blogs) and it’s normally free to join most affiliate programs.
The product you are selling is normally free  (there are some cases where you have to buy the product first, there are a few reasons for this either they are a money grabbing business or its due to the fact they want you to get to know the product and have a passion for selling the product)

2. Due to the win-win nature it is in the companys best interest to provide you with as many resources as possible. The company is gaining a free army of sales people, which they are not paying for. They will have to give you a commission on sales of product, but they are not paying you a wage. Most on the ball companies will therefore offer resources such as banners, emails, articles to help promote the product. This helps you as the affiliate marketer to sell the product and make more commission, and it helps the company to make more overall sales.

3. You wont have to take part in any of the administration or ‘paperwork’ with collecting money form the sales, or any discrepancies with product services etc. As you are purely the middle man the company has to deal with collecting the money and any issues or questions with that product.  You will be introducing the customer to the company / vendor and then the vendor will take over.

4. Commissions can be quite high. Some affiliate programs offer between 50 and 75% or more of the profits. If you look for the top niches on the internet, for why a person is there then these are the products where you will make the most commission.

5. The flexibility surrounding affiliate marketing attracts most of us there in the first place. You can do as much or as little as you want, and you will earn in accordance to the effort you put in like with most things!) You are not on a 9-5 job, you are doing something when you feel like doing it.  The flexibility of what you want to sell is also paramount in conducting affiliate marketing You can choose your passion and what you want to talk about as your product, which will always make it easier to sell to a client.

6. The cash income that you derive is a passive income. Once you have set up a website, or a format of introducing the customer to the vendor then it is on automatic pilot. You can then make sales whilst you sleep, or whilst you are on holiday! Passive income is the way to go!

7. There is so much information on the internet about how to do affiliate marketing that it is free education. There is also an awful lot of support and assistance if required.  Again a win-win situation.

So you have a no-risk, free strategy, where you can do it as much or as little as you like, and you are taught how to do it for free.  It is obvious why alot of us love affiliate marketing and will carry on doing it regardless of other strategies we are doing.
